Lilly plants with purple blooms are growing wildly along the creek hiking trails, while birds can be heard singing, especially in the cool morning time. Cypress trees and the famous cypress knees can be seen at every turn along the trail.

The spring is the perfect time of year for exploring Fisheating Creek by foot because the water level is still low, awaiting the summer rains which sometimes widen the creek five-fold.

Access to free hiking trails and canoe launching is available in Palmdale east of U.S. 27 or at the Fisheating Creek State Park on U.S. 27 which has a small admission charge with campsites and a small store available.
