Belle Glade 'Muck City' Day - NFL's James Lee

BELLE GLADE, FL – On Saturday, June 9, 2012 the James Lee Foundation will present its 3rd year of celebrating three marquee events: the James Lee Youth Football Camp at Glades Central Community High School; the James Lee Day, proclaimed on the 2nd Saturday of every June by the City of Belle Glade and the MUCK City Fest at Lakeshore Park. 



First_Book_Flyer_Back.jpgThe James Lee Foundation Youth Football Camp will feature an educational football clinic from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. for 250 boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 17. The camp is free of charge and will take place at Glades Central Community High School located at 1001 SW Avenue M, Belle Glade. 

Campers will receive free lunch, t-shirts and instruction by James Lee of the Washington Redskins and his friends in the NFL, including Tim Jennings of the Bears; Fernando Velasco of the Titans; Josh Johnson of the 49ers; and Davin Joseph of the Buccaneers.  

The James Lee Day and the MUCK City Fest will feature a day of family and community activities, free health screenings, information booths and giveaways from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lakeshore Park located at 1224 SW Avenue E Pl, Belle Glade. 

Service and health care providers and nonprofits confirmed to participate include the American Cancer Society; American Red Cross; Boys & Girls Clubs; C.L. Brumback Health Center; Crime Stoppers, Inc.; Families First of PBC; Florida Rural Legal Services; Glades Initiative, Inc.; Humana, Inc.; Planned Parenthood; Take Stock PBC; NOAH, Inc.; the Literacy Coalition of PBC; the Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office; Workforce Alliance; and many more. 

Feeding South Florida aims to distribute nearly 20,000 pounds of produce to those in need and through a partnership with First Book, the James Lee Foundation will distribute over 1000 brand new books to children for free (while supplies last). 

The event will also feature free food prepared by Sonny’s Bar-B-Q, music and fun for all ages. 

“I am looking forward to hosting our 3rd annual MUCK City Fest and Football Camp on Saturday June 9th” states James Lee. “This year we are hoping to benefit over 1000 people from the Glades and beyond. Our plan is to impact the kids at the camp and the overall community at the Fest.” 

In addition to the nearly 50 service providers that will be present, the schedule of events will include a “Church in the Park” segment featuring prayers for the community by Pastor Cooper of Mt. Zion AME Church, Pastor Morales of the First Haitian Baptist Church and Father John Mericantante of St. Mary’s Church of Pahokeee. 

A “Health 101” segment will feature presentations by the medical doctors of the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society. 

The Mayor of Belle Glade, Steve Wilson will deliver the welcome address and introduce NFL players in attendance.

    I am looking for three new employees... a maintanance manager (paint,drywall,hvac,elect, plumbing)to get aparments move in ready. A property manager, and a painter/drywaller to cover 4 properties in Belle Glade. Full Time with benefits, and tons of growth potential! Can you help me put some people back to work?
