FORT MYERS, FL. -- On Wednesday, Oct. 1, county commission chairs and county managers from this six-county region (Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Sarasota, Hendry, Glades) will meet at Lee County Admin East building for a daylong summit.
It’s the first gathering of what may become an annual event to identify and discuss relevant policy issues, some of which could become elements of a regional legislative agenda. Topics to be discussed include flood mapping, water quality and the economy.
Briefings for media will be coordinated by Lee County Commissioner Larry Kiker, who will be joined by Lee County Manager Roger Desjarlais as well as any of the other attendees who care to join them.
A last minute change indicates the group will be holding closed meetings not open to the press.
A press release this morning said, "Commissioner Kiker plans to have the group of county managers and commission chairs meet initially without media present. The commissioner then plans to ask the group if they would like to open it up to media. It’s unknown at what point during the morning that may be."
