River Clean Up Week In LaBelle

LABELLE, FL. -- In celebration of American Rivers Clean Up Week the Hendry/LaBelle Recreation Board and Coalition for Eco-Recreation would like to invite community organizations, youth groups, and individuals to help remove debris and invasive plants from the canal on the west side of Bob Mason Park on Saturday June 9 from 7:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. sBob Mason Park is on the north side of the Caloosahatchee River, a mile west of State Road 29 North.

Volunteering at this community park for one half hour or more will make a difference. Trash bags and some tools will be provided. Hats, gloves, long pants, sturdy shoes and insect repellant are recommended. Participants are encouraged to bring wheelbarrows, rakes and shovels. Water will be provided.     Great to hear a cleanup is planned for the Caloosahatchee River, which was listed as America's Most Endangered Rivers in 2006. http://www.americanrivers.org/site/PageServer?pagename=AR7_MER2006
