Baird Loses Brooksville Job

LABELLE, FL. -- The Brooksville City Council voted this week to bypass former Hendry County Manager Lester Baird application to manage the Tampa area city, in favor of a more local man. Baird was questioned about his departure from Hendry county and candidly told the commissioners that four Hendry commissioners decided it was time for him to leave after 11 years serving as administrator. Mitchell Bobowski ended up with the job which will most likely pay about $70,000 a year.

Formal interviews before the city commission took place Tuesday with only a handful of local residents attending the public meeting.
