Clewiston DUI Crash Seriously Injures Man

CLEWISTON, FL. -- William Valentine Hoecherl,  54 of Lake Wales, Florida was charged with DUI and possession of marijuana after his 1984 Chevrolet crashed into a truck parked on the side of U.S. 27 just west of Hendry county road 720, Wednesday about 7:55 p.m.

Hoecherl was traveling south in the outside lane of US-27 while a 1997 Ford F-350 was stopped in the west paved emergency lane of US-27. Jeffrey

Jeffrey Charles Mosier, 57 of Crossville, TN was stopped in the emergency lane due to mechanical problems. He was outside of the vehicle looking in the hood when Hoecherl proceeded south in the outside lane and failed to maintain his lane entering the west paved emergency lane of US-27.

As a result, the right portion of the Chevrolet struck the left rear portion of the truck. After impact, the truck traveled in a southeasterly direction pinning Mosier between the guardrail and the vehicle.

Hoecherl came to a controlled stop in front of the truck in the west paved emergency lane and was found at final rest directly in front of the truck in the west paved emergency lane of US-27.

Hoecherl had minor injuries. Mosier had serious injuries and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment. A passenger in the truck, Richard Denton, 19 was uninjured according to the FHP report.

Where did you get info on passenger? Far from 19. I know both persons involved. If we had never stopped corporal punishment for crimes these incidents would be a lot lower in numbers. What happened to an eye for an eye?

Actually it has nothing to do with 2 wrongs make a right, it has to do with people getting as taste of what their actions have cause. The pain and life devastating injury that people have to suffer at the hands of someone doing WRONG and they wrong doer only has to maybe serve done jail time and have good insurance. No wonder this country is out of control. When do wee really start holding people accountable?? Only then when people ready feel the deep suffering they cause will things change!! God help us all until then!!!!!!!!! Barbra maybe you would change your mind if it was someone very close to you that had their whole life ahead of them only to have their ability to function or walk takes from them by someone that made a choose to drink or get high and drive. Where is the accountability?

If you are going to write a story at least make it the truth the disable vehicle was not all the way in the emergency lane and was sticking out in to the travel lane by at least 3 feet with no lights on what so ever no flashers even on the darkest part of us 27 in the state is not time DOT does something to correct this. If you are having mechanical problems don't be a dumb ass, have some lights on or hazard lights so people know that you are there.

  7. The crash details come from the FHP reports and if anything is incorrect, the FHP should be contacted to correct it.
