Police Report From Clewiston Chief

83 Red Light Camera Violations

CLEWISTON, FL. -- Clewiston Police Chief Don Gutshall reports arrests and activity have jumped sharply during the past two weeks. Street Patrol has made nine "good street level drug arrests," says Gutshall.

There was one gunshot wound report during the weekend. It appears it was an accidental self-inflicted injury. Officers responded to a complaint of aggravated assault on East Trinidad Saturday. A suspect was arrested in the case and is charged with holding a gun to a woman’s head and threatening to shoot her. No one was harmed in the incident.

Sunday night a woman was in her home when her ex-husband broke in and beat her. Suspect fled the residence when the victim’s sister came out of another room in the house. Officers have warrants for the suspect, but have not yet located him.

Red Light Cameras continue to provide one-third of the total traffic violations issued by the city. A brief synopsis of the two-week activity in Clewiston:
