LABELLE, FL. -- Edward Villarreal and Courtney Hernandez were arrested Thursday after a K9 dog finds Villarreal hiding in a closet under clothing, and Hernandez hiding under a bed. A third suspect, Victoria Lopez was also arrested.
On Thursday, December 30, 2015, Glades County Criminal Investigations Unit contacted Hendry County Investigators to make them aware of information that they had received on a stolen ATV. Glades County Investigators reported that the stolen ATV was being stored at 680 Kell Mill Blvd., in LaBelle. When detectives arrived at the residence they observed 26 year old Edward Villarreal and 28 year old Victoria Lopez removing the stolen ATV from the shed behind the home. Investigators were aware the Villarreal had 3 active Hendry County warrants and Lopez had one warrant.
As they approached Villarreal he immediately went into the residence and refused to come out. Lopez was taken into custody on scene. With the cooperation of both agencies a search warrant was obtained and conducted at the residence. After entering the home Villarreal still refused to turn himself over to law enforcement officers and remained hidden. After attempting to convince Villarreal to cooperate, a law enforcement K9 located him in a bedroom closet hiding underneath a pile of clothing.
Deputies also located and took into custody 22 year old Courtney Hernandez who had two outstanding Hendry County Warrants and was found hiding under a bed.
The recovered Blue Honda ATV was identified as being reported stolen out of Glades County. Glades County Investigator seized the ATV and returned it to the owner.
Edward Villarreal is currently being held in the Hendry County Jail on charges of 3 Felony Violation of Probation, Obstruction, and Dealing in Stolen Property.
Victoria Lopez is being held on an active felony warrant. Courtney Hernandez is also being held on two warrants. At this time, bond has not been set.
