Ronald Howard Harless, age 77, passed away peacefully July 23, 2021 at home in Lakeport, FL.

He was born Dec. 9, 1943 in Charleston, WV, to Earnest and Catherine (Brogan) Harless. He retired from St. Lucie Battery and Tire as a salesman for over 30 years. 

Ronald was an avid Trump Supporter; he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved traveling in his RV with his wife, Mary. Ronald was passionate about fishing. He was a huge football and baseball fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him and loved him. Ronald loved his four-legged companion, Biscuit, who preceded him in death.

Ronald leaves behind his loving wife of 20 years; Mary Harless (Cushman), his children; Ronald Harless Jr (Jennifer), Anita Jones (Freddy), Melissa Stevens, Keith Harless (Julie) Kelly Elvikis (Dave), Jamie Lemmon (Carrie), and Dennis Lemmon (Alison), fourteen loving grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

Ronald’s life will be celebrated on August 7, 2021 at 2:00 at Maple Grove Baptist Church, 12777 E. SR78, Moore Haven (Lakeport), FL 33471

The family would like to express thank you for the compassionate care Ron received from Hope Hospice.

Jose Baltazar Padilla Torres, age 65, of Clewiston, passed away July 23, 2021 in Clewiston.

He was born Nov. 23, 1955 in Mexico, to the late Enrique Padilla Martinez and Maria Guadalupe Torres.

Survivors include three sons: Baltazar Padilla Jr, Jessie Padilla and Enrique Padilla
five daughters: Mariselda Navarrete, Yolanda Lebron, Olivia Padilla, Brenda Padilla and Cristina Padilla

many grandchildren and great grandchildren
4 brothers, 5 sisters

He was a Tractor Operator.
He loved hunting and fishing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, LaBelle with Father Juan Carlos Sack officiating.

Interment will be Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in Fort Denaud Cemetery, LaBelle.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 PM at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, LaBelle, FL.

Pastor Thomas Ben Millican, Jr, age 73, of LaBelle, FL passed away July 20, 2021 in LaBelle, FL.

He was born July 8, 1948 in Scottsboro, AL, to the late Thomas Ben and Violet Lynnette (Smith) Millican.

He was a Missionary.

Joyce Peacock Humphrey, age 90, of Clewiston, passed away July 17, 2021 in Wellington, Florida..

She was born Mar. 9, 1931 in Pahokee, FL, to the late John Aaron and the late Millie (Matthews) Peacock. She married Jessie L. Humphrey; he preceded her in death on July 20, 2014. She with her husband owned and operated an insurance agency for many years. Joyce was a member of Canal Point Baptist Church for many years. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, who will be dearly missed by everyone who loved and cared about her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going to church.

Joyce leaves behind her loving children; two daughters; Diana Thompson (Wally Delbosque) and Louanne Rawls (Michael Rawls), and one son; Larry Humphrey, along with four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, one brother; Harold Peacock, many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Joyce was also preceded in death by her brothers; Bobby Peacock, John Peacock, Wayne Peacock, Roy Peacock, Floyd Peacock, Billy Joe Peacock, and Alton Jackson Peacock.

Joyce’s life was celebrated on Monday, July 26, 2021 at her church – Canal Point Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mickey Bailey officiating. Burial was alongside of her husband in Ridgelawn Cemetery.

Joanne L. Darden-Vorhees passed away July 17, 2021 in Clewiston, Florida. Joanne was born in Sarasota, Florida on July 20, 1941, to the late William “Bill” Clyde Darden and the late Hazel Lereada Campbell Darden. 

She grew up in Pahokee and graduated from Pahokee High School. Joanne then attended the Jackson Memorial Hospital Nursing Program earning her nursing degree, and then later in 1993 she graduated from Emory University with degree as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. 

She began her career in public health here in Clewiston back in 1968 where she dedicated over 53 dedicated years with the Hendry and Glades County Health Departments. 

She was married to Boyd Thomas Vorhees, who preceded her in death on February 4, 2015. 

Joanne was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Clewiston; she served on the board of the Harlem Academy Daycare and was an active member of the local chapters of the American Lung Association and the American Cancer Society. 

Joanne leaves behind her only son, Craig Davis (married to Robin Davis) of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; also, her two step-daughters, Cindy Vorhees and Ann Meese; nine grandchildren, Cody Davis, Colton Davis, Brylee Davis, Olivia Fabelo, Brittany Terry, Austin Reeves, Andrew Georgoudiou, Stephanie Meese and Crissy Raines; four great grandchildren, Mackenzie Terry, Penelope Terry, Heather Raines and Ethan Raines; along with one step-sister, Bobbie Tribble; and two cousins, Francis Campbell Martin and Vera KeenWeeks. 

Celebration of Joanne’s life was held at the First Baptist Church of Clewiston on Saturday, July 24,2021 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour before the service also at the church, where Pastor Raul Zaldivar officiated. 

Burial took place in Ridgelawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Joanne Vorhees Scholarship Fund that had been setup in tribute to Joanne’s lifelong dedication for the Hendry and Glades County residents. Oscar Sanchez Castillo, age 61, of Clewiston, passed away July 14, 2021 in Fort Myers.

He was born Apr. 1, 1960 in Mexico to the late Abraham and Dolores Castillo Sanchez.
He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
He loved his family very much.
Survivors include his wife: Emma) Sanchez
six sons: Oscar Daniel Sanchez, Rigoberto Sanchez, Roglio Sanchez, Edtberto Sanchez, Juan Jose Sanchez and Emmanuel Sanchez
daughter: Kassandra Sanchez
