Free Medical Exams, Free Food And Entertainment
Since the first health fair was held in 2003, thousands of residents of Hendry, Glades, and surrounding communities have benefited from the free services that are offered.
Medical students from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine as well as students from various Allied Health Divisions will attend to provide free medical services to our residents. NSU-COM Physicians, Community Physicians and other NSU faculty will be supervising the students.
In the past, these students have discovered shocking numbers of newly diagnosed cases of diabetes, high blood pressure, and other medical conditions identified by the health care volunteers. Follow-up information will be provided for individuals who will need continued care.
Among the medical services offered are Anemia Screening, Tobacco Cessation, Vision, Blood Pressure, Bone Density, Mammogram Vouchers, Cholesterol Screening, Diabetes Screening, HIV Screening and Education, and much more.
The Hendry Glades Health Department will be on hand to give out free safety helmets for the children and in addition to the free medical services, vendors will have educational materials and products, and articipants can find out how to apply for free medication and other valuable information.
A free bounce house will be available for the children to enjoy. Radio station, WAFC, will do a live remote from the event. Free food will be provided for everyone.
