24 Arrests In Clewiston This Week

Reported this week in Clewiston from Chief of Police Don Gutshall. Police Chief Gutshall says last week all sworn full time and auxiliary officers qualified at the Hendry County Gun Range. Curtis Clay is the Range Instructor and Departmental Training Officer.

Gutshall says they have begun the annual vulnerability assessment review of the Herbert Hoover Dike. Lieutenant Pelham is in charge of that operation. On  Saturday, our Police  Explorers attended  the annual awards luncheon in Palm Beach  Gardens. Sgt. Justin Spence was nominated as Adviser of the Year, and Officer Jeanette Herrera was nominated as Explorer of the year.

Tuesday afternoon, a local woman drove “or dove” her car into the canal on West Avenida Del Rio. Though the car was almost completely submerged, the driver was pulled out safely thanks to an alert and speedy response by Donnie Hughes and Tony Chihocky who were working in the area.

The numbers below will show a tremendously active week for officers on patrol. Fully half of all the arrests and citations listed occurred on Saturday.
