LABELLE, FL. -- Hendry County Democrats announced the results of the May 5 County Caucus to elect delegates from the local level who will attend the Florida Democratic Party's state convention in Tampa this June.
The following individuals were elected at the 2012 Hendry County Caucuses: Joe Thomas from LaBelle for Congressional District 16, and Janet Taylor and Rupert Mighty from Clewiston for Congressional District 23.
They will join other county delegates from each of Hendry County's two congressional districts in electing delegates to the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC the first week in September.
This year Florida Democrats will send the largest delegation ever to the National Convention with a record 300 delegates, the majority of whom will be selected from the county congressional district delegates at the State Convention in Tampa, June 1 - 3.
Hendry County Democrats Chairman Joe Thomas said, "We will harness the enthusiasm generated at our local caucuses and the Florida Democratic Convention toward building a strong grassroots organization in Florida to elect Democrats up and down the ticket."
