LABELLE, FL. -- Worried About Making Your Monthly Mortgage Payment or Facing Foreclosure? Many people have been impacted by job losses or reduced wages and are having a hard time keeping up with their mortgage payments.
If you are concerned about this and would like help, please attend our free Help for Struggling Homeowners Workshop on May 31st at the Beardsley Room in the John Boy Auditorium in Clewiston, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The John Boy Auditorium is located at 1200 S WC Owens Ave.
HUD-approved Housing Counselors will be available to meet individually with homeowners to discuss their current situation and possible alternatives to foreclosure.
Several alternatives include a loan modification, the Florida Hardest-Hit Program (learn more at www.flhardesthithelp.org), a short sale, or a deed-in-lieu. Representatives from Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County will also be present to answer legal questions regarding foreclosure issues.
Participants may stop by any time during the workshop for an individual counseling session. Counseling will be available in both English and Spanish. Free follow-up counseling is also available if assistance is needed in applying for one of the foreclosure programs.
Please bring the following documents for the counselor to review: pay stubs and bank statements for the last two months, documentation on other forms of household income such as unemployment, social security income, and child support, current mortgage statement, and your 2011 tax return or W2.
The workshop and counseling are free and are sponsored by the Hendry County Housing Department and the Empowerment Alliance of Southwest Florida. For more information, please call Angela Johnson at the Empowerment Alliance at 239-658-3325. The Empowerment Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is a HUD-approved Housing Counseling Agency.
