There was a slide and two bounce houses for kids to jump and play and a duck pond where every child walked away with a free stuffed animal. The Showtime Cloggers showed off some fancy foot-work and the crowd heard some good ole’ country music from Sheriff Whidden and his Posse Band.
The kids had a chance to watch a K-9 demonstration from the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office and participate in a Bike Rodeo. There was also a relay race and a hula-hoop contest while Mary the Clown, Smokey Bear, McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog, and the Crash Dummies all made appearances in Barron Park. The parents appreciated the opportunity to get a free Child Identification Kit from the Masonic Lodge #379.
The Kiwanis Club of LaBelle has sponsored the Annual Kiwanis Kid’s Day event for over 20 years. Kiwanis would like to extend a huge thank-you to all of the volunteers, community partners and agencies that participated, and thanks to the parents and family members that brought their kids out to enjoy a fun-filled day in LaBelle. A very special thanks to the Kiwanis Key Club (From LaBelle High School) and the Kiwanis Builders Club (From West Glades School).
Also, many thanks to Ace Hardware for donating 2 bicycles and to Cecil Akin of Akin-Davis Funeral Home for donating a child’s tricycle that were all raffled off for just 50-cents a ticket. Winners were: Boy’s bike: Kenny Ferrazas, Girl’s bike: Kelli Lee, and Kid’s Tricycle: Jayna Williamson
This is one FANTASTIC activity in this community !! Kids remember this fun day their entire life . Bless you all for this kindness!
