World's Most Dangerous Animal?

Lions, Tigers, And Bears? Oh No.

LABELLE, FL. -- While many think of large animals as the most dangerous, it's a very, very small creature that actually kills the most people around the world, spreading disease to millions.

Surprisingly, the tiny mosquito causes more deaths around the world by far than any other animal.

While venomous snakes kill tens of thousands each year, female mosquitoes cause from two to three million deaths.

The female mosquito dines on the blood of living vertebrates, including humans. and is mostly responsible for spreading diseases infecting hundreds of millions of people throughout Asia, Africa, Mexico, and Central and South America.

While not all species of mosquito feed on blood or spread diseases, those that do transmit diseases including malaria, yellow fever and dengue fever.

Only females bite in order to obtain the blood of it's victim. The female needs the nutrients in blood to help produce eggs.

The female mosquito for some reason prefers biting children and light haired people. The main predator of mosquitoes is the dragonfly which is very effective in helping to control it's numbers. Seeing the dragonfly in your yard is a good thing!
