LABELLE, FL. -- LaBelle Kiwanis welcomed guest speaker Martha Cruz, HCS Occupational Therapist. She explained the sensory processing disorder (SPD), and treating this disorder by exposing a child to Sensory Stimulation through repetitive activities for Pre-K to 8th grade.
Organized movement may include carefully designed physical activities. Occupational Therapy helps retrain the senses in a controlled, stimulating environment focusing on making SPD easier to manage in day-to-day life.
Through repetition a child's nervous system will respond in a more organized way and react to sensations more efficiently i.e refocus.
