Obituaries - Durley O'Bannon, Silas Zimmerly, Clarence Jackson, Tony Hicks

Durley Juanita Allen O'Bannon, age 89, of Sandersville, won the Victory over Alzheimer's early Sunday morning, October 27, 2019. She was born Oct. 26, 1930 in Vero Beach, FL. She graduated from Vero Beach High School and married James D. O'Bannon, USAF, So. Dakota, July 4, 1951.
In the early 1960's, Jim felt a call on his life to the ministry of the gospel of Christ, moving their family from Vero Beach to Fort Myers, FL where they pastored the Lehigh Acres Church of God for seven years. Durley loved gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved greatly and was greatly loved by all and not an unkind word was ever spoken of her.
She was also hired by Glades Lumber and Wood Treating company as a bookkeeper. She was employed by the company for a total of fifty-years and retired in 2014 at the age of eight-four.
Survivors include four sons: James Michael O'Bannon, Sr. of Punta Gorda, FL, Floyd Joseph O'Bannon (Crychette) of Okeechobee, FL,Timothy Allen O'Bannon (Sharion) of Harrison, GA, and Daniel K. O'Bannon (Renata) of Bradenton, FL, one daughter: Donna L. O'Bannon deMercado (Ken) of Sparta, GA, sister: Betty Jo Williams of Fort Worth , TX, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph H. Allen and Rosa Reaves-Allen, her husband, James D. "Jim" O'Bannon and sister: Doris Kelly.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 2, 2019, 11:00 am at Church of God-LaBelle, 520 E Hickpochee Ave, LaBelle, FL with Pastor Chuck Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Denaud Cemetery, LaBelle.
Visitation was Saturday at the Church of God-LaBelle from 10:00 am until the start of the funeral service.

Silas Ray Zimmerly, age 78, of LaBelle, passed away October 27, 2019 in LaBelle.
He was born Oct. 22, 1941 in Kidron, OH, to the late Edwin Peter and the late Mary (Bixler) Zimmerly. He lived in LaBelle for the past forty-two years and is a former resident of Apple Creek, OH. Ray retired as Manager of Gerber Groves Water Control District. He worked as a self employed diesel engine mechanic until he moved to Florida. He was a Mennonite and attended Central Church of Christ-LaBelle. Ray was a faithful Christian and loved his family.
Survivors include his wife: Hilda, sons: Ron (Flora) Zimmerly and Michael (Michelle) Zimmerly daughter: Tina (Rene) Hernandez, brothers: Daniel (Donna, deceased) Zimmerly, David (Barbara) Zimmerly and Jim (Carol) Zimmerly, sister: Lillie (Ernest, deceased) Steffen, brother in law: Arthur (Linda, deceased) Berg; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sisters: Ida (Denver) Welty, Bessie (Albert) Harder, Lydia McClintock, Ruth Zimmerly, and Lester (Lou) Zimmerly.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Clarence E Jackson, age 89, of Alva, passed away October 31, 2019 in Alva.
He was born May 30, 1930 in Lawrenceburg, IN, to the late Leon C and L Edna (Warner) Jackson.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to July 1969, He served in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer, and Retired with 20 + years of service.
He worked as an Insurance Adjuster, then owned his own Remodeling Company in Indiana.
Survivors include his wife: Klara (Stuhler) Jackson

Tony L Hicks, age 69, of LaBelle, passed away October 29, 2019 in Lehigh Acres.
He was born June 2, 1950 in Athens, TN, to the late Carson and Gladys (Balliew) Hicks
He was a Veteran of the US Army.
He was a Foreman/Supervisor with H&H Land Development.
He loved fishing, gardening and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara (Dockery) Hicks
three sons: Dalles Hicks, Billy Hicks and Bobby Hicks
one daughter: Brittany Hicks
one brother: Curtis Hicks
6 grandchildren
