The Henry County Sheriff's office held a press conference Wednesday, with 13 family members of the deceased present, saying, "Today is a good day for the family of Bolman “Bee Love" Slater and the community. Major Crimes Detectives have worked hand in hand with our local State Attorney's Office and together they have approved and issued an arrest warrant for the suspect in this horrendous crime.

"This homicide investigation is still very much active. Detectives continue to follow up on leads and are sifting through all evidence received through executed search warrants."

"I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the Bolman Slater family, here with us today. Today marks two years and three months since the brutal and inhumane homicide of Bolman Slater, AKA: “Bee Love” of Pahokee Florida," said Sheriff Steve Whidden.

On Wednesday September 4, 2019 at approximately 2:19 in the morning, Deputies with the Hendry County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a vehicle fire located on Virginia Avenue and 13th Street in the Harlem area of Clewiston. It was determined after the fire was extinguished that a person had perished inside the burned vehicle.

The Major Crimes Unit was notified, and detectives responded. During the course of their investigation the vehicle and driver were identified and notification was made to the family.

Detectives worked nonstop around the clock obtaining information and collecting any possible evidence for future prosecution.

Early in the investigation, detectives established persons of interest. Detectives also understand the importance of proving a subject's guilt and equally the importance of clearing a person of interest if that person is innocent.

Detectives reached out to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) for assistance, early in this investigation, to request manpower and the use of FBI labs.

To date, Detectives have interviewed several hundred people and written and executed fifty-six (56) search warrants.

The department said, "Today, this homicide investigation is still very much active. Detectives continue to conduct follow up on leads and sifting through all evidence received through executed search warrants."

Marcus Lynell Thompson (DOB: 09/09/1986) of Moore Haven Florida was arrested Wednesday morning without incident at Gate A of U.S. Sugar in Clewiston and charged with:

1st Degree Homicide - Accessory After the Fact
Arson - Accessory After the Fact

An accessory-after-the-fact is someone who assists 1) someone who has committed a crime, 2) after the person has committed the crime, 3) with knowledge that the person committed the crime, and 4) with the intent to help the person avoid arrest or punishment.

Thompson has a long court history in Glades County going back to 2011 with a guilty verdict of criminal mischief and burglary; in 2012 guilty of false 911 calls; in 2014, 2019 and 2021 driving without a license.

"The Hendry County Sheriff's Office and its Major Crimes detectives have worked diligently and long hours to obtain justice for the family of Bolman “Bee Love” Slater," said the Sheriff's Department in it's news release.

The Sheriff said he is unable to provide any of the specifics of this case because it is still an active investigation.
