Plane Crashes In Hendry County - Pilot Suffers Minor Injuries

LABELLE, FL. -- On Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at approximately 4:00 pm, Hendry County Dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a small single engine plane crash in rural Western Hendry County.

UPDATE: The aircraft was a Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser built in 1947 and registered to Robert Morrison of LaBelle. 

Emergency response personnel responded to the area near 3338 Congen Rd., locating the crash site and the pilot. 

The crash was in the Southwest Florida Water Management land in the area of the Hendry County Emergency Management office west of LaBelle off State Road 80, where storm water treatment construction is underway.

Emergency response personnel were able to locate the pilot and were able to safely assist him in exiting the cockpit.

It was reported that the pilot had minor injuries but was transported to a nearby medical facility where his injuries were evaluated

It was reported by the pilot that the plane began to lose power. The pilot was able to safely land the plane without damage to nearby property and with minimal injuries.

The FAA has been notified and will be conducting additional investigation.
