Hendry-Glades Obituaries

Julian Francis Boyce, age 83, of Immokalee, FL. passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in Lehigh Acres, FL. Julian was born November 14, 1927 in Hertford, NC. He is the son of the late James Edward and the late Grace C. (Rogerson) Boyce.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of Perquimans Lodge #106 A.F. & A.M. and was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Immokalee. Julian was a Produce Broker specializing in tomatoes for many years.

He is survived by his wife: Ferrie L.(Elrod) Boyce; preceded in death by daughter Jamie Boyce, surviving daughters: Julie Gerstein and Nicki Hannoud; son: Stephen Gerstman; brothers: Ed Boyce (Inga) and Gene Boyce (Gloria); Grandchildren: Julian Gerstein, Kyle Pierce, Elliot Pierce, Justin Gerstman and Morgan Pierce; great-grandchild Lilly Pierce.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at First Baptist Church Of Immokalee, with Pastor Dennis Norvell officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

Kay Rives Phillips, age 72, of Lake Placid, passed away July 9, 2011 in Sebring. She was born Dec. 4, 1938 in Belle Glade to the late Norvin Revere Rives and the late Leona (McTaggart) Rives. Kay grew up in Belle Glade. She also lived in Lehigh Acres for many years. Kay worked for many years as Agriculture Tech III at the University of Florida Research Center in Belle Glade, FL. She was an artist, poet and author.

Survivors include her daughters: Tammy Phillips, Ft. Myers, Terri (Russ) Oetinger, Okeechobee, Tina (Dan) Herring, Belle Glade and Tanya (Jim) Hammil, Clewiston, brothers: William Roe (Sharon) Rives II, Lake Harbor and Buck Rives, Clewiston, grandchildren, Joseph Warren Spell Jr, Kyle Spell, Timothy Sutterfield Jr., Daniel Herring Jr., Michael Herring, Robert Miller III and Candace (James) Taylor, two great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Phillips, brother: James Rives and sister: Wanda Jean Rives.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 14, 2011, 10:00 am at Lake Harbor Community Methodist Church in Lake Harbor, FL with Rev. Rod Ruby officiating. The graveside committal will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Lee Memorial Park, Fort Myers. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Akin-Davis Funeral Home in Clewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870. Paul James Cardin, age 79, of Clewiston died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at home in Clewiston. Paul was born July 15, 1931 in Englewood, TN. He is the son of the late Stanley and the late Mamie (Bradley) Cardin. He married Ruth Davenport; she preceded him in death on December 10, 2009.

He retired from Evercane Sugar Refinery in 1993 as a supervisor. He attended Calvary Baptist Church of Clewiston.

He is survived by his one daughter: Cheryl (Joe) Chevalier Brother of two sisters: Bonnie Graves, Anita Wood and one brother: Tommy Joe Cardin; he also has 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Granddaughter, Jennifer (Jack) Belcher; Grandson, Joe (Valerie) Chevalier, II; Grandson, Dexter (Leighanne) Chevalier; Granddaughter, Danyelle Chevalier; Great Grandson, Jackson Belcher; Great Granddaughter, Madison Ann Belcher; Great Grandson, Joe Chevalier, III; Great Grandson, Dexter Alexander Chevalier, Jr.

Paul was preceded in death by his brothers; Lee and Bill Cardin and sister Ruth Cardin Mills.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday 11 am in Calvary Baptist Church, 1075 Davidson Road, Clewiston, Florida where Rev. David McClusky will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services. Barbara Lois Fulp, 75, went home to her Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2011at 8:51pm surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Barbara was only 11 days away from her 76th birthday, ending a remarkable life.

Barbara was born in Winston-Salem, NC on July 16, 1935 to John and Lola Wright. She married Charles Allen Fulp of Winston-Salem, NC on March 13, 1955. Her husband had a career with the US Army and together they lived and traveled around the world. Barbara raised her family in Alexandria, VA and upon her husbands retirement, they relocated to LaBelle, FL for the remainder of her life.

Barbara loved reading and teaching God's word. She taught many Bible classes and led numerous Bible studies. She loved playing the piano and listening to Christian music. She was a faithful member and volunteer in her church. Barbara was a prayer warrior and spent many hours praying for others. Barbara was a loving wife and dedicated mother to both of her sons and her daughter-in-law. She also had many other "sons" and "daughters" in the Lord. She was a true and loyal friend to many people around the world.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles Allen Fulp; her son Keith Allen Fulp of Winston-Salem, NC; her son Steven Charles Fulp and daughter-in-law Camilla Fulp of Lindale, TX; her grandsons Cameron David Fulp and Christian Steven Fulp of Lindale, TX; her God-daughter Elizabeth Witt Samess and husband Daniel Samess; Her sister Mary Mickey and husband Ted Mickey of Winston-Salem, NC; her brother-in-law W. Melvin Fulp and sister-in-law Betty Fulp.

A memorial service was held on July 11, 2011 at Carlson Memorial United Methodist Church in LaBelle, FL. The family hosted a private grave-side service at Fort Denaud Cemetery in LaBelle, FL. Online condolences can be made to her family at www.@akin-davis.com.

Clinton Anthony Birch was born March 17, 1956, to the late Lena Campbell in Montego Bay, Jamaica West Indies. He was the only child and spent his early years with some schooling in Jamaica.

He immigrated to New York City, residing in Brooklyn and completed the rest of his schooling at Midwood High and some at New York City Community College. He pursued his passion as an artist and leather craft, creating unique works of art and clothing at his shop, Pyramid Leather in Manhattan and then in Brooklyn, N.Y.C.

In 1985 he met his life partner, Louisa McLymont. They had one child C'Leena. In 1997 he relocated to LaBelle, Florida and worked for some time in construction with Mr. Wayne Wilkins.

He became ill in January 2011 and departed this life July 4, 2011. He leaves behind his life partner, Louisa; three daughters, April, Nathale and C;Leena; stepdaughter; Krystle; stepson-in-law, Tyrone; grandchildren, Johnathan, Elijah, Kaleese and Abraham and lots of friends.

Clyde Harold White, age 73, of Clewiston passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 in Clewiston. He was born January 16, 1938 in Ashburn, Georgia. Harold was a resident of the Glades area for 68 years. He served in the Air Force Reserves as a corpsman. Harold graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelors in Accounting and worked for over forty years as a Certified Public Accountant. He also served as a Hendry County Commissioner for eleven years.

Survivors include his children: Harold Bryant "Hal" White (Michele) of Valrico, Thomas Scott White (Hope) of Clewiston and Suzanne White Martin(Scott) of Clewiston, grandchildren: Michael White, Justin White, Clayton Blair, Chloe White, Jacob Martin, Reed Martin, Hilary Martin and Amelia Martin and brother: Jack White, children and grandchildren of Stuart.

The family received guests on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Evangel Assembly of God in Clewiston. A memorial service was held Friday, July 8, 2011, 11:00 am at Evangel Assembly Of God in Clewiston with Pastor Gary Corley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dunklin Memorial Church, 3342 S.W. Hosanah Lane Okeechobee, Florida 34974 and please note in memory of Harold White when making donations.

    My father,Julian Francis Boyce had three children.All girls,First born, Linda Hope Boyce. She passed four years ago, and loved her daddy so. Next, second born,six years later came me. Julie Frances Boyce Gerstein. A Florida Licenced Optician for 30 years.Live with my only son Julian Richard Gerstein.Lost my boys Daddy, Richard 12 years now.With respect to my Mother, Beverly Hope Boyce(passed)They shared Grandchildren, And the only true blood remaining Grand childred are the following, Julian Gerstein(my baby)Genesis Hansen, Beau Hansen,and Tiffany Hansen(Linda's beautiful Children) All other are children and grandchildren of Ferry and her ex-husband, not my fathers. No disrespect intended for my fathers's third wife. Ferry, Julian misses you, please call him, you are the only Grandma he knows, GOD Bless You,and keep you. We are here. JFBGerstein
