He retired from the Georgia Department of Labor as a safety engineer. He was of the Assembly of God Faith.
Survivors include his companion, Mary Nell Calfee, of Lufkin, Texas, and her family; his children, Elaine Davis Watt and husband Kelby of Ocala, FL, Orville R. Davis, III of New York; grandchildren, Kayla Davis Onufer, Cynthia Davis Satterwhite, Jason Dakota Davis and Meredith Sabra Davis; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Shirley Davis Longobardo of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Neely Davis.
A Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11:00 am, at the Felda Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church c/o Randall T. James E." Bunny" Tiner, age 87, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 in Fort Myers, FL.
He was born October 29, 1926 in Fort Myers, 3rd of 7 children to parents James A. and Alice Brown Tiner. He was the grandson of Andrew J. & Jane Lamb Tiner and William H. "Bill" Brown & Sarah Jane Jernigan Brown, all pioneer families of S.W. Florida.
He attended Ft Myers High school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on his 17th birthday in 1943. He served 6 years as an aviation mechanic. In 1949 he started his career with Florida Power & Light Co. and retired as a lineman after 36 ½ years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Billy, Paul and Harold.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Inez, sons: Gary (Theresa) and Mark (Beverly) daughter: Janice (Kevin), grandsons: Luke (Courtney), Eric, Greg, Steven, Travis and Sean, granddaughters: Hollie (Steven), Rebekah (Wyatt) and Jessica, sister: Madge Bright (Frank), brothers: Frank (Laura) and Jack. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2014, 9:30 am at Alva Cemetery in Alva with Rev. Dennis Edgar officiating. Interment will follow in Alva Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, 13932 Palm Beach Blvd, Fort Myers.
He loved spending time at his camp in the Everglades and especially loved sharing it with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
