Hendry Cold Case Murder Suspect Found In Texas

Arrest In Murder Case From 9 Years Ago

On Friday, July 1, 2011, a suspect in the 2002 murder of 30-year old Saul Rico, 29 year old Jose Luis Paniagua was transported from Texas to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office on an outstanding 2002 warrant.. 

Paniagua was living in Bay City, Texas when he encountered police on June 12, 2011 and was arrested on charges of Public Intoxication in Bay City, Texas.   It was during this time it was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for 2nd Degree Homicide in the death of Saul Rico.  Texas authorities held Paniagua in custody until his return to LaBelle on July 1, 2011.  

Paniagua is currently being held in the Hendry County Jail without bond. Arraignment is set before Circuit Judge John Duryea on August 2.

    Are Saul Rico's family allowed to attend court session?
