LaBelle, Fla. – Hendry County has opened Upthegrove Elementary School for additional shelter in LaBelle for residents needing to evacuate to safety from Hurricane Irma beginning at 10am, Saturday, September 9, 2017.
Upthegrove Elementary School is located at 280 Main St. LaBelle, FL 33935.
Due to the mandatory evacuation in the eastern portion of the County, there will be NO shelters open in Clewiston.
Evacuating to a shelter should be a last resort as there is limited space available in the shelters.
Residents needing to evacuate are strongly encouraged to go to Upthegrove Elementary School
due to the high volume of evacuees in other shelters.

As a reminder to the public, the mandatory evacuation zone includes all of the City of
Clewiston, Hookers Point, Harlem, Flaghole, Montura Ranch Estates and the communities located within the Mid-County MSBU which includes Ladeca, Pioneer
Plantation and Leon-Dennis Subdivision (Al Don Farming Road).
All evacuees are encouraged to take all important, personal documents and identification.
The County has set up a hotline for residents to call for information regarding, evacuation,
shelters, transportation and all other related concerns.
