Evacuations Along River From Sheet Flow Flooding

LABELLE, FL. -- Hendry County EMS along with the Sheriff’s office and other emergency personnel are performing evacuations in the area of County Road 78 north to Whidden Road, and from State Road 29 west to Pollywog Canal due to rising waters.

This flooding is a direct result of sheet flow from Glades County and is NOT a result of the failure of any levee or the Caloosahatchee River overflowing.

All residents are strongly advised to stay in their homes if possible and should not travel roads that might not be safe. Remember, never drive through standing water.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
