Electric Power - Phone Recovery Coming Slowly

LABELLE, FL. -- The latest from Florida Power and Light indicates of the total 9,700 customers in County 5,210 are still without power at 9 a.m. Friday morning. In Glades county only 840 customer out of 3,400 are still without electric.

The FCC's daily communications report yesterday indicated 911 service was operating but without automatic location information at Big Cypress Indian Reservation, FL, Cape Coral PD, FL, Collier County EOC, FL, Desoto County Sheriff, FL, Ft. Myers Police Department, FL, Glades County Sheriff, FL, Hardee County Back Up, FL, Hardee County Sheriff, FL, Hendry County Sheriff, FL, Highlands County Sheriff, FL, Lee County Emergency Dispatch Center EOC, FL, Lee County Sheriff, FL, Naples PD, FL, and Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Department, FL.

Cell phone service has been a problem for many as cell sites either had damage or ran out of emergency generator capability.

In Glades county five out of thirty cell phone tower sites were not functioning. In Hendry county 29 out of 46 sites were out. Collier, Hendry, and Monroe were the top three counties in Florida with the most towers out of service, and were the three counties with the most wind from the hurricane northeast eyewall.

Clewiston's radio station is back on the air today after being off for the week. Same with Belle Glade's radio station.
