Casey Anthony Reported For Probation Wednesday Night
Ordered to report for probation by the Orange County Court before noon Friday, August 26th, Jose Baez had his client report at 6 p.m. Wednesday night to an unknown Florida probation office.
Spokesperson for the Florida Department of Corrections said Anthony will be serving a one-year probation for check fraud in a Florida county unless Anthony makes application to serve probation out of state. The state requested would have to approve the request.
Part of her 13-condition probation order is to maintain a job. Attorney Jose Baez said Anthony would be taking online courses to complete her education in lieu of taking a job. Anthony is a high-school dropout.
The Department of Corrections is not telling where Anthony will reside or the name or location of her probation officer. Anthony will be required to appear in person monthly at the probation office in the county where she is living, and will be subject to spot checks of her residence.
She will not be able to leave the county without permission.
From inferences in statements by the Department of Corrections, the probation officer may be female and the county of residence may be outside of Orange County, Florida.
The department says the secrecy about location and the probation officer is because of instructions from the Court to keep Anthony's location hidden because of "death threats."
A hearing on the state's request to pay back costs associated with her June, 2011 conviction for lying to law enforcement officers was rescheduled from Thursday August 25th until September 2nd at 10 a.m. The state is asking for up to several hundred thousands of dollars to be paid back for the costs of prosecution.
