Hendry-Lee-Glades Obituaries

Roy Early Taylor, age 90, of LaBelle died Sunday, August 28, 2011 in LaBelle. He was born May 14, 1921 in Ware County, GA, son of the late Joseph Early Taylor and Frankie Mae (Sweat) Taylor. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked for USSC for thirty-nine years and retired in 1986 as superintendent of the Eastern Division. He was a member of the Church of God-LaBelle.

Survivors include his wife: Shirley Sue (Bishop) Taylor; sons: Joseph Myers (Doris) Taylor of Quincy, Rev. William Roy (Beth) Taylor, PhD of Charlotte, NC, daughters: Marlene (Robert) Peace of Montgomery, AL, Diane (Larry) Hingson of Bonita Springs, stepchildren, Paula (Danny) Selph of Orlando, Patty Louise (Jim) Eaton of Conroe, TX, Cheryl MacTammany of Lakeland, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren five step-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be held Wed., August 31, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at Church Of God-LaBelle with Rev. William Roy Taylor Ph.D. and Rev. F.T. Mason officiating. Interment followed in Ortona Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Church of God-LaBelle.

Captain Ludwig V. Romero, 68 of Moore Haven passed away at 9:05 p.m. in Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center on August 26, 2011.

Romero as he was known by friends was born on August 21, 1943 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Victor M and Felicidad Lamadrid Romero. He was a Deputy Sheriff for Glades County for many years before retiring.

He proudly served in the United States Army. Receiving a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He married Frances Arcia; she survives. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Moore Haven for many years.

Romero is also survived by his mother; Felicidad Romero, daughters; Iris Romero, Marcella Romero, Yolanda Romero and Gina Romero, sons; Ludwig Romero and Arnaldo Romero, sister; Georgina Romero, and eight grandchildren and one grandchild on the way.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday, August 31, 2011, in Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Moore Haven where Father Lorenzo Gonzalez presided.

Cremation Arrangements are being handled by Akin-Davis Funeral Home - Clewiston.
  

Glenda C. Bradley, age 66, of Muse passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 in Muse. She was born Dec. 28, 1944 in Warner Robbins, GA, daughter of the late William Jesse McCardel and the late Rosa Jewell (Gordy) McCardel.

Glenda was Director of Women's Ministries at Crossroads Baptist in Fort Myers. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband: Dr. Roger W. Bradley, daughter: Jennifer D. Fletcher and son in law: Shawn M. Fletcher of Muse, brothers: William D. "Mac" McCardel of Muse, Bennie McCardel and wife Janet of Maryville, TN, James Wayne McCardel and wife Martha of Knoxville, TN, grandchildren: Reba Fletcher; Christian Fletcher and Ashley Fletcher, many nieces and nephews and many friends.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church in Fort Myers with Dr. Roger Bradley and Rev. Larry Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Denaud Cemetery in LaBelle. Visitation will be held at church 1 hour prior to the funeral.

Katherine Rose Hatch, age 19, of Fort Myers passed away, August 25, 2011 in Fort Myers, FL Katie was born June 25, 1992 in, Albany, N.Y. She is the daughter of James W. and Barbara Hatch.

Due to Katie's sudden passing, the gift of her organs and tissues will live on. The person blessed with her heart, will receive a heart that has already been filled with Love and the Lord.

Katie loved the Lord, reading, cooking, dogs, horses, riding horses, fishing, basketball, track and spending time with Cody and her family.

She is survived by her father James W. and mother Barbara Hatch; two sisters: Jami (Justin) Murphy and Christina (Jason) Yancey and one brother: James Hatch and many other family members and friends.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held 11:00 am on Monday, August 29 at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, 13932 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL with Pastor Orlando Cabrera officiating.

Earl “Cowboy” Ellison, Jr., 45, of Cleveland, TN, passed away, Saturday, August 27, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Ellison, Sr. & Mary Ellison; sister, Sue Millsaps; and two nephews, Victor Lee Higgs & Jeffrey Swaggerty.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ellison; children, Victoria Fortenberry & Eric Barker; step-children, Danny & Johnny Woodward; brothers, Bobby Ellison, Sonny Ellison, Tim Ellison, James Ellison; and sisters, Dottie Whitt, Connie Flowers, Jessie Higgs, Sandy Heath, Audra Elrod and Tena Ellison.

Earl's surviving spouse was Elizabeth Hollingsworth Ellison , daughter of John and Mary Hollingsworth of LaBelle.

The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Winfred Truelove officiating. Burial will follow in Clouse Hill Cemetery in Tracy City, TN. Visitation with the family will be 4:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. Tuesday.
