Stephen J. Reynolds, 62, died peacefully in his sleep while in his home on July 21, 2011. Born on August 20, 1948 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he was proudly adopted two days later by Martin E. Reynolds and Felicia Serio Reynolds and grew up and lived in Wellsville, NY. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1967 and went on to attend Alfred Ag-Tech College. He was drafted into the US Army in August 1968 and served until July 1971 in Germany and attained the rank of Sergeant.
Stephen came to Florida and worked as a plumber and was hired by Lee County where he obtained his Class A Water Treatment Operator's License. He then attended Fort Myers Criminal Justice Academy and became a Certified Corrections Officer and worked for Hendry Correctional Facility, the Hendry County Sheriff's Office and the Moore Haven Correctional Facility. He was also an Auxiliary Deputy. He was proud to be a member of the Dana-Howard-Weekley American Legion Post#130 in LaBelle.
He is survived by his wife, Tricia K. Reynolds of LaBelle, sons, John Thomas Reynolds (Mary) of Lehigh and Nicholas Alan Reynolds (Julie) of LaBelle, , his sister, Ursula Reynolds Gray (Brian) of Wellsville, NY, his ex-wife, Janet K. Reynolds of Lehigh, several nephews and a niece, and his wife's parents, Karl and Beverly Wendorf of Port Orange, Florida, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by his father, Martin Reynolds, in February of 1987, and his mother, Felicia Reynolds, in October of 1996.
Arrangements for cremation have been made by the Akin-Davis Funeral Home of LaBelle. The family suggests that any memorials be made in the form of a contribution in Stephen's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
A memorial service will be held on Stephen's birthday, August 20, 2011 at the American Legion Post, LaBelle at 10:30 a.m. and a luncheon will follow. Please come to help celebrate his life!
