She was born Feb. 17, 1933 in Venus, FL, the daughter of the late Mathey and the late Annie (Davis) Gay. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved going to the farm, gardening and cooking for her family. She lived most of her life in Immokalee before moving to LaBelle in 2002.
Survivors include her children: Jason (Kathy) Corbitt of Immokalee, Bruce (Sharon) Corbitt of LaBelle, Steve (Shelly) Corbitt of LaBelle, Kathy Corbitt of Naples, Calvin Corbitt of Immokalee and Sarah (George) Bambera of NJ, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews . She is also survived by her faithful companion, her poodle, Penny.
She was predeceased by her husband: Frank James Corbitt and sons: Baby Boy Corbitt, Jimmy Corbitt and Ralph Corbitt.
The Graveside Funeral Service will be held Thurday, February 16, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at Baptist Cemetery in Immokalee with Rev. George Bambera officiating. Interment will follow in Baptist Cemetery, Immokalee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway E, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
M. Violeline Featherston, age 90, of LaBelle passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 in LaBelle, FL. Violeline was born September 15, 1921 in Coella, IL. She is the daughter of the late Overton and the late Lola (Swisher) Johnson. She is survived by her daughter: Myra (Chuck) Keller; son: Larry (Barbara) Featherston; brother: Howell Johnson; grandchildren: Nancy (Bubbie) Owens, Danny (Pam) Keller, Jeff (Tammi) Featherston and Sherry Featherston; great grandchildren: Brandon Owens , Kyle Owens, Tyler Owens, Kendall Owens , Kayla Keller, Danny Keller, Toby Featherston, Blake Featherston and Kristina Featherston.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Featherston in 1990 and brothers: Leslie Johnson, Toby Johnson, Carl Johnson and Ward Johnson and sister Arlene Westmoreland.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15 at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, 560 E. Hickpochee Ave., LaBelle, FL with Rev. Frank Deerey Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Fort Denaud Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 14 from 06:00-08:00pm at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, 560 E. Hickpochee Ave., LaBelle, FL.
