Fatal Crash As Vehicle Travels Wrong Direction

Wrong Way Vehicle Kills Driver
CLEWISTON, FL. -- On Monday morning about 6:11 a.m. a 2006 Nissan Armada, for unknown reason was traveling east on the inside lane of the westbound traffic lane of US 27 (SR 25) as 2006 Mack truck was traveling westbound on the inside lane on US 27 near Flaghole Road in central Hendry County. 

Upon seeing the Nissan, the truck driver Mauricio Flores, 54 of Naples unsuccessfully attempted to steer into the outside lane of US 27 to avoid colliding with the Nissan. As a result, the left front end of the Nissan struck the left side of the Semi Trailer, which came at final rest on the outside lane of US 27 facing west. 

The Nissan came at final rest on the paved median facing southwest. Driver Verlie Andreda Murray, 61 of Lehigh Acres, Fl. died of injuries in the crash. A blood alcohol test is pending on her said FHP Trooper Junior K. Clervil and homicide investigator Cpl. John Robert Benton.
