$1000 Reward In Deputy Shooting

CLEWISTON, FL. -- A Hendry deputy was shot and at this time Hendry County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the shooting that occurred last night in Clewiston, Florida.

Further investigation has revealed that Deputy Jayson Moorehead was ambushed by an individual while out of his vehicle at 944 Kentucky Ave. Investigators are continuing to follow up on leads that are coming in regarding the shooting.

“We are very fortunate he wasn't seriously injured," Hendry County Sheriff Steve Whidden said. We're still investigating, and will do everything we possibly can to bring about an arrest and conviction.

Investigators are questioning a second man who may have information leading to the arrest of the shooter.

UPDATE:

Investigators with the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office have arrested an individual on charges of Attempted Murder in the shooting of Hendry County Deputy Jayson Moorehead.

Investigators are continuing to follow up on information they are uncovering. This is an ongoing investigation and they are not releasing the name or photo of the individual.
