Speed Limit Increase From 30 To 50 MPH On CR830

HENDRY COUNTY, FL. -- The following is a highlight of the Hendry County Board of County Commissioners meeting held on Tuesday, March 28th at the LaBelle Commission Chambers.

CONSENT

· Speed Regulation on CR 830 & CR 830A: A request was made by Commissioner Wills to evaluate the speed on CR 830 and CR 830A in Felda for a possible speed increase. Staff conducted a speed analysis during a twenty-four hour period on January 19th and field inspection on March 20th. The existing posted speed limit on both road is thirty (30) miles per hour. The analysis was conducted at three locations on CR 830 and one location on CR 830A. Based on the analysis staff recommended the speed limit be increase to 50 miles per hour except in curves where it should be increased to 35 miles per hour. The Board approved the staff to increase the speed limits on CR 830 and CR 830A to 45 mph maximum with the speeds depicted in the map for curved areas and other areas of concern.

STAFF REPORTS

· Solid Waste MSBU: The County contract for the collection of disposal of solid waste and recyclable materials expires on September 30, 2017. The current contractor for solid waste is Progressive Waste Solutions. Per the contract, the duration of the franchise was for seven (7) years. The County has the option with the current contractor to renew the contract for additional seven years. The Board approved staff to work with Progressive Waste Solutions to renew the contract with amendments and bring those options back to the board at a future board meeting for final approval. Potential amendments could include pricing options for: larger recycling containers, two day a week trash pickup, and one day a week track pick up.
