Two With Serious Injuries In Crash

COLLIER COUNTY, FL. -- Juana Andres, 48 of Immokalee was driving a 2002 Toyota Sienna traveling north on SR 29 about 9 a.m. Saturday in the left turn lane approaching the intersection of SR 82 as Elena Marroquin, 31 of LaBelle in a 2006 Dodge Caravan  was traveling south on SR 29 approaching the intersection of SR 82.

Nicolas Diaz Montejo, 53 of Immokalee in a box truck was stopped on SR 82 in the eastbound right turn lane waiting to merge onto SR 29.

Andres misjudged the approaching Dodge and made a left turn into the path as the front of the minivan. After the impact both vehicles rotated in a counterclockwise direction. The Toyota slid into the left side of the box truck. The Dodge caught fire and came to rest facing north in the southbound lane. The fire was extinguished by the fire department.

Marroquin had serious injuries and a passenger in the Toyota, Tomas Francisco Mateo, 44 also has serious injuries and both were taken to Lee Memorial.
