LABELLE, FL. -- On Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at approximately 8:30 pm, Hendry County Deputies were called to the area of 815 Evans Road in reference to a suspicious person. Deputies met with the complainant who told them that he had seen someone shining a light in his back yard around the barn area. The complainant then said that the suspect headed toward an adjacent horse pasture behind his residence.
During a search of the area by deputies, approximately five to seven shots were fired in the direction of officers. Deputies were able to apprehend the suspect and take him into custody without injury.
The suspect was identified as 62 year old Revis Calvin Napier of LaBelle, Florida. Napier was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm without Intent to Kill, Improper Exhibition of a Firearm, and Resisting without Violence. Napier was released on $18,500.00 bond.
UPDATE 3/20/2015: DEFT FOUND GUILTY BY JURY AS TO LESSER CHARGE OF IMPROPER EXHIBITION OF FIREARM AS TO COUNT 1 AND NOT GUILTY AS TO COUNT 2; FIREARM TO BE FORFEITED; RESTITUTION RESERVED; PROBATION PORTION OF SENTENCE TO FOLLOW JAIL TIME. He was given 11 months county probation.
