Florida Gas Prices Lower This Week - Hendry Not So Much

Hendry-Glades Gas Still Higher

Average retail gasoline prices in Florida have fallen 5.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.71/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 3.2 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.77/g.

But in the Hendry and Glades county area, gas prices are much higher. The lowest price in the LaBelle area is $3.86 at the Circle K on SR29 South. BP gas is $3.90. The Shell station in LaBelle price is a bit tricky because the sign out front shows the price if you use a Shell credit card or cash. Add three cents to that for normal credit cards.

In Clewiston, it's $3.86 at Valero for the lowest and the highest is $3.97 at Marathon.

Hendry county has a higher than most county gas tax which adds to the price, and a lack of real competition also adds to the price sting.

Including the change in gas prices in Florida during the past week, prices Sunday were $1.03/g higher than the same day one year ago and are 16.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 13.7 cents per gallon during the last month and stands $1.04/g higher than this day one year ago.
