LaBelle's Rodeo Grill Down Again?

More Problems For Bar Owner Von Frantzius

LABELLE, FL. -- The Rodeo Grill LLC is apparently closed again. Calls made to the restaurant in LaBelle went unanswered this afternoon.

Owner Ralph F. Von Frantzius has been in financial troubles for some time now. In October 2010, Circuit Judge Cristine Greider ordered the restaurant and Von Frantzius to deposit $27,000 in back rents into the court registry to stop an eviction by property owner Grandeur Oaks LLC.

Additionally, the court ordered Von Frantzius to pay each month's rent of $7,050 into the court registry while the case was pending.

To rub his financial problems in a bit deeper, the Internal Revenue Service filed a federal tax lien against the restaurant for $22,579 on December 9th, 2010.

On April 19th, 2011 the Hendry County Court was given notice that Von Frantzius was filing for bankruptcy. A bankruptcy filing may stop all pending court actions against him, until those plaintiffs get permission from the Federal Bankruptcy Court to proceed.

The restaurant had 9 critical food safety violations recorded against them on it's last inspection in February, inspectors finding "slime" in the ice machine among other violations.

Geez. Another fine display of this town kicking a dog when he is down. You think Labelle would be mourning the closing of another business in this tough economy, but instead, it's gloating in the death of an attraction for this pitiful town.
