Lehigh Teen Arrested In Father's Murder


Family Argument Allegedly Spurs Murder


LABELLE, FL.-- According to Pinellas Couunty, Florida Sheriff's detectives on Friday April 29, 2011 at 10:25 p.m., Patrol Operations Bureau deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in progress at the Holiday Inn Harbourside, located at 401 2nd Street, in Indian Rocks Beach. When deputies arrived to the room they discovered James Allen Davis, 41, had been shot, and the suspect was his son Brandon Lee Davis, 18.


James Allen Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Detectives say the family was scheduled to stay at the hotel for just a couple of days. They checked in on Thursday April 28, 2011 and they were due to check out Saturday April 30, 2011. During the evening of Friday April 29th the family began to argue; first husband and wife, James and Dana, age 39, then father and son, James and Brandon.

At approximately 10:25 p.m. during the argument Brandon produced a semi-automatic handgun and shot his father several times causing his death. No one else was injured and deputies were able to recover the gun and notify detectives.

Based on their investigation detectives have arrested Brandon Davis for Second Degree Murder in the death of his father, James Allen Davis. No further details are available at this point since this is still an open / active investigation. According to the arrest records, the Davis family lived in Fort Myers at 725 Ardson Lane.


Brandon was released from jail on a surety bond on May 3rd.


In Hendry County Two Davis Marital Cases Found


Hendry county public court documents show a Dana and a James Davis were the subject of two court cases, a domestic violence case and a dissolution of marriage filing.


In September 2006 Dana filed for and received a temporarily injunction for protection against James. ln November 2006 she petitioned the court to dismiss the injunction which was granted by the court.


In October 2006, Dana filed a petition for dissolution of marriage against James. In March 2007 a request was made to have parenting classes taken online, which was completed in July, 2007. In April, 2008 a petition for voluntary dismissal of the case was granted and the couple remained married.
