23 Tons Of Gravel Stops Traffic For Hours
Truck Spills Load - Stops Traffic For Three Hours
MOORE HAVEN, FL. -- Jesus Betancourt, 50 of Miami stopped traffic on US27 in Glades county when his commercial motor vehicle loaded with approximately 23 tons of gravel overturned Wednesday morning about 6 a.m.
Betancourt was traveling north on U.S. 27 (SR 25) in the inside lane and swerved left to avoid a phantom vehicle attempting to change lanes. His vehicle entered the grass median as he lost control of the vehicle.
He then attempted to reenter the roadway and over steered left in an attempt to regain control. The trailer jackknifed and overturned onto its left side coming to final rest in the grass median, facing west.
The northbound inside lane was closed for three hours due to the trailer dumping its load.
