Elizabeth (Betty Houk) Yeoman, age 88, of Lehigh Acres, FL and former long-time resident of Carey, OH, passed away on December 6, 2012. She lived in Carey until her husband and she retired and moved to Lehigh Acres, FL.
Born Aug. 6, 1924 in Carey, OH, to Harold Houk and Harriet (Allmendinger) Houk. Preceding her in death was her husband, C.A. (Bud) Yeoman and sister, Barbara (Houk) Henry.
She is survived by two children, son, David Yeoman, wife Daria, Daughter, Nancy (Yeoman) Rose, husband Chris, grandchildren are Jennifer and Matthew Rose.
In 1942 she graduated from Carey High School, she went on to earn a Bachelors of Science in Education from Ohio State University. While at OSU she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She substituted and later taught 5th grade at Carey Elementary School for 12 years. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Carey and later the Faith Lutheran Church of Lehigh Acres.
After their retirement Bud and she traveled extensively throughout the United States. She enjoyed outings with Red Hat Society, Woman's Club of Lehigh Acres and senior citizens groups. She also enjoyed musical theater with family and friends. During her life she loved her pets, especially her Scotty, Max.
A memorial service will be held in Carey, OH to be announced at a later date. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908
